Come on in - the books are lovely! (Well, I would say that, wouldn't I?) If you're looking for information about The Write Class, click on the link opposite for details, and news of the new monthly class. Work from The Write Class forms part of an exhibition at Wells Museum in honour of Harry Patch, the 'last fighting Tommy', who died in 2009 at the age of 111. It's a fascinating exhibition, and it's on till 3rd June. If you'd like to read the extract from my work in progress which is part of that display, click here. The working title is Harry's War.

My most recent book, Emily's Surprising Voyage , was published by Walker in August 2010. It was long listed for the Carnegie Medal, which was a great honour. With beautiful illustrations by James de la Rue, it's set on Mr Brunel's fantastic ship, the ss Great Britain, which you can go to see in Bristol Harbour. The book before this was Warrior King. Set in the Dark Ages, it's about Alfred the Great, his daughter Fleda, a mysteriously magical lady called Cerys, and how they saved Britain from the Vikings. For more information, just go to the page. Great for schools that are 'doing' the Anglo-Saxons!
